Sarah's Profile
Where to start...well, I'm 22, and a student at UTS studying post grad public relations. I have an undergraduate degree of arts with a psychology double major, but don't worry, I'm not ALWAYS just analysing every little thing that's said to me. My interests include writing, reading, talking, and eating excessive amounts of chocolate. As well as all that, I have a keen interest in social justice issues and what's going on in the world in general. A lot of things make me pretty angry, and I see it as my duty to make other people aware, so they can be angry, too! Being complacent is just the worst, nothing ever changes if you just stand by and watch...

It’s the Final Countdown…
This is it Australia. Tomorrow night, the wait will be over, and our future will finally be revealed. For me, this future either involve enthusiastically anticipating a brighter, fairer Australia where relations with the U.S. are not considered more important than our education and health, or migrating to New Zealand. Then again, New Zealand also […]
A terrifying future…is such a thing REALLY worth voting for?

Ok, this could simply be me trying to push a somewhat Labor-hackish (yes, hackish is a word because I just decided to make it one) agenda, but honestly, why does the Liberal party seem to think that scaring the Australian public into voting for them is a good idea? Yes, I find The Rudd’s constant […]
Gender stereotyping: as long as the media exists, women will always be pretty and men will always be tough…
To carry on with the theme of my last blog, what on earth is with the way women are portrayed on television? Within one hour of prime-time television on a commercial network last night, I witnessed almost every irritating gender stereotype relating to women there is. The squealing, ditzy blonde teen, the frustrated housewife, the […]
Watch out for Reclaim the Night…

I just thought I would take this opportunity in amongst all this election madness to reflect on an issue that is close to my heart, and that issue is violence against women, and the treatment of women in general. Given that October is the month of the Reclaim the Night marches, what better time […]
The War on Democracy, or, America is Awful

Ok I admit it, I am completely partial to consuming a bit of propaganda, especially when it is presented to me in a highly entertaining disguise, particularly film or literature. This enjoyment escalates even further when said propaganda supports my value system, and allows me to maintain and often build upon any stereotypes or conceptions […]
Why Young People Should be Involved in Politics: Vol. 2

Since my previous blog on why young people should be involved in politics, I have taken part in a number of interesting events which have helped me further formulate my opinion on this subject.
Firstly, I have taken up residence in a household with two avid student politicians. This has taught me a number of valuable […]
And so it begins: Election 2007

I suppose I would be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly excited about the commencement of election campaign madness. I’m uncertain as to whether this is because as a member of the Labor Party (yes, my secret is out, I am not as impartial a judge as I initially appear. Cough.) it is now […]
Argh, would someone just call the election!?!?!
I don’t know about you, but I’m fed up with this whole Federal Election circus already, and the real campaign hasn’t even started yet. How much longer can Little Johnny drag all this out for? I suppose he’s watching and waiting, hoping that The Rudd or some other member of the Opposition will screw […]
