Sarah's Profile
Where to start...well, I'm 22, and a student at UTS studying post grad public relations. I have an undergraduate degree of arts with a psychology double major, but don't worry, I'm not ALWAYS just analysing every little thing that's said to me. My interests include writing, reading, talking, and eating excessive amounts of chocolate. As well as all that, I have a keen interest in social justice issues and what's going on in the world in general. A lot of things make me pretty angry, and I see it as my duty to make other people aware, so they can be angry, too! Being complacent is just the worst, nothing ever changes if you just stand by and watch...

Government ads: what better way to spend our tax dollars?

Unless you have been living under a rock of late, I’m sure you’ve noticed the absolute onslaught of government ads that have been bombarding our tv screens over the last little while. As if ad breaks weren’t mind-numbingly boring enough, lately we have had to put up with government propaganda overload as well as the […]
The Jammed…bringing human trafficking closer to home

If you want a truly confronting and completely gripping cinematic experience, I thoroughly recommend you get yourself off to your nearest artsy cinema and see The Jammed. This is perhaps easier said than done however, as I think at the moment it is being shown in all of five to ten artsy cinemas across New […]
Oh Britney…

I think the title perhaps says it all. Poor Britney. Going by her recent performance of her new single, which she just managed to drunkenly stumble her way through, she’s got some issues. Why are we so judgemental of a single mum trying to navigate through life all on her own? Sure, she’s got more […]
APEC: the final insult

Ok, so I submitted. I went to the APEC protest on Saturday even though I said I wouldn’t. You’ll be pleased to know I wasn’t arrested (obviously), nor physically harmed in any way, however I am a little disturbed by the whole event.
Being a country girl, I had never been to a protest before, so […]
The National Drugs Campaign…hmmm…

Is anyone else a little intrigued by the federal government’s latest initiative to discourage young people from using drugs? I don’t know if any of you have paid particular attention to the booklet you should have received in the mail by now, which outlines how parents should talk to their kids about drugs and the […]
APEC: Rant the Second

As promised, here is my follow up to my first little spiel on APEC. I’m pleased I left it until this week really, because my irritation increases considerably as the event draws closer. This irritation is particularly prominent whenever I’m waiting for a bus and am forced to stare at posters which instruct me to […]
Hiding the truth (again)

I know I promised I would extend upon my first APEC rant today, but I figure there’s plenty of time for that, and enough people ranting about it already for the time being. Today I’ve decided to focus on an issue that is far less prominent, but about ten thousand times more important and relevant, […]
APEC: Rant the First

Can I just say that it is an absolute travesty that I am even having to consider whether I should go to protest at APEC or not. The fact that I genuinely need to consider my safety, weigh up whether or not I want to have a place in one of the five hundred jail […]
