Gerry Harvey, you should be ashamed, of yourself, isn’t a Billion Aussie Dollars enough for you MATE …!!! How much are you going to take with you into the next dimension.

When I read about what you were proposing, I immediately made a mental note 2 Never Ever Shop at another furniture/electrical/whatever else Shop/business that you own ever again, until you recant such an unacceptable blatant disregard for human life.

If I am reading correctly from this article that is on Rupert Murdoch’s, News.com.au site,

you Mr Norman, are willing to exploit another hard working human being, from another country, who wants a better life for him and his family.

And you want to do this by treating them as lesser human beings by paying them, far less wages then you would a citizen of this country, for doing exactly the same job.

You want a return to the years of this country’s formation where, there were human beings and there were convicts. How Dare You!!!

Have you forgotten that your success in business has come down to two major variables, hard work from you and good will, from us your Clientele. Keep up this rubbish, and watch the second factor evaporate!!!

This country needs a different type of economy, a new paradigm, the era, and thinking upon which you grew up, is long gone. We need an economy shaped by intelligent industries, of the future. Such Industries require, visionary investment, by astute governments.

If you want as you say in the article, cheap labour for your horse studs, piss off to America, where I am sure both Bush, senior and junior, will be able to find some for you in Texas!!!

ps, am right now in the process of looking for a piece of outdoor furniture, to stick on the balcony and also a study/work table, does anyone know of any non harvey norman affordable furniture shops in inner city sydney? Let me know…

   Gerry Harvey has obviously lost his marbles. I’m doing a bit of research on this blustery and boastful man. He’s not impressed me one iota.He’s not only cheap, he’s miserable. He wants to stick it up those who ostentatiously display their wealth, by jetting about economy class. What does that achieve? At the same time he wants the government to consider adopting a two-tiered wage system by exploiting migrants. He need some lessons in history. This country was built on the backs of cheap migrant labour. Gerry wants to turn the clock back. Sorry old timer no-one is listening.
   As for boycotting Harvey Norman retail outlets one must remember that the geezer has them frachised out, all 192 of them. We’d only be hurting the franchise, who would be getting well- screwed by this miserabalist.
   Gerry Norman needs to stop making a fool of himself.

   Er? I live in a mining town and due to the vortex sucking people into the massive mining industries as well as the contract businesses who support them what can you expect? No one will work for peanuts. In your theory all and sundry have to suffer because you cannot use overseas labour? I bet you wont be happy to be without a commodity or service yes? You live in the city I am sure! I live in a mining town. Port Hedland to be exact working for BHP Billiton. Here you cannot afford to live here unless you get paid massive amounts of money. Rent? 2000 a week if you do not work for the miners. Not bad eh? McDonalds here employ overseas labour and have a great service for instance. They are housed and get good benefits. If the stacked shelves at Coles or Woolies they would not make enough money to fuel their car. Do your home work home boi before firing off a shitload of bullshit.

   Cee, Great to hear from you. In future save your insults for your mates in Kindergarten.

   However before you put pen to paper, do take time to think through your arguments. You are infact proving the essence of my post. And that is Gerry Harvey wanted (may still do?) people to work for peanuts, in areas/vocations that he considered “lowly” so that he could go on making billions.

   The man’s very public statment is a reflection of his feudal type mentality, and is infact out of whack with the modern laws of supply and demand, in a first world economy. Society has moved on since convict times.

   You are infact way too silly to realise that, and no I won’t call you obtuse Cee, as you at the very least, know your way to a computer.

   He just wants to make money for himself, and he always say’s that he’s for the aussie battlers, BULLSHIT gerry, i know a few people who work at his office, for 5 years, and NO pay rise, he can not afford to pay his own works, and you call yourself an aussie, he even goes on TV and tells everyone to buy aussie products, he is the biggest jew i ever seen and hearld.
