Behind the public rhetoric Australia has no plan to reduce its emissions.

Instead there is only a plan to divert attention to emissions by other countries, particularly in the developing world. At its core, he plan aims to avoid emission constraints in Australia as long as possible for a few emission intensive industries—industries that contribute far less to our economy than is generally
understood.

Dr Pearse shows how these sectors were able to confuse their interests with the
national interest in the mind of the Australian Prime Minister. The devastating consequences of
allowing climate change policy to be dictated by a small group of Australia’s biggest polluters and
the lobbyists they fund are becoming all too clear
