Must say this is a tough call. On the face of the matter, it seems that Kevin Andrews, Phillip Ruddock and their political master, John Winston Howard, may well have overplayed their hand. He has also dared messrs Howard, Ruddock, and Andrews, to come get him, if they dare, on public television. What a Lawyer!!! One has to admire the amount of gumption and fight in the man!!!! More Reading here

For the first time since 911, someone has had the balls to say, BULLSHIT!!! Let the Rule of Law in the Land Prevail!!! We are sick of being frightened into Subjugation!!! We want the Truth and Nothing But!!!!

On the flip-side what if Mr Haneef is part of that crazy lot in Europe!!!!

That to me is a very terrifying prospect, and I readily admit to it.

There is though, an element of deep seated residual anger within me. I for one am quite angry that judicial processes, and the very public perception, of their sanctity, for want of a better word, under the John Howard led Liberal federal government, have been allowed deteriorate. So much so, that it could well be argued that a major proportion of the general public liken, major legal proceedings, like the Haneef investigation, to elements of an ongoing Tv soap opera. Thus when a supposed serious terrorist type investigation is conducted via press releases, and 10 second prime time Tv grabs, the surrealness of the whole incident, is further compounded.

Dodgypress argues, very wilfully that, there may come a point in time, when a significant threat warning of imminent danger, conveyed to the public, by the relevent authorities, will merely be viewed as yet another melodramtic scene from some D grade soap opera. The ramifications here are too mind boggling to comprehend.

What is happening right now is a bloody big deal, and will be viewed as such, years after Walther Mitty types like messrs Andrews, and Ruddock, have passed into well deserved insignificance.

John Howard, and Co, are tampering with the very fabric of our democracy. It needn’t have come to this!
