The Working Man, Sol Trujillo, and the Fair Pay Commission…

For those who do not know, yours truly (dodgypress), has been a very busy camper in the last couple of weeks. I have been in Super Stealth Mode, beavering away in the skunk labs, located deep, deep, deep, down below, in the subterranean bowels of Dodgy Corp, dreaming, playing, and conjuring up new ideas, new concepts and new realities….

the lastest being… SOULECONOMY.com

As a result, I have not had much creative love to go around and as an ultimate consequence Dodgypress, my very first net child has not had much fun. However like any Great Father, I am now back, at home, with lots of love and attention…to give!

So I thought to myself, okay planet Australia, what is cooking today….a quick peek in the business section of my local rag the Sydney Morning Herald, was all it took to realise that, yes pure public bastardry, and hypocrisy on a grand scale is still alive and going strong!!!

QUICK TEST:

Question Number One, and Yes It Could Well Be a Trick Question, So You have Been Warned…

What does Sol Trujillo, have in Common, with the Working Man?

a) They both breathe Oxygen

b) Sol Trujillo lives in Australia

c) Sol Trujillo supposedly works for an Australian Company, that employs the common man

Question Number Two, What does the aussie premise “A fair day’s pay, for a fair day’s work” mean to you?

a) A modern day urban myth about PAYE workers, who pay the bulk of a country’s taxes, and yet struggle to enjoy its fruits (rundown public hospitals, rising mortgage payments, bad public transport and no free beer), yep the last one really kills

b) A tale created and perpetuated both the labor party and the liberal party so that, their shared mates in corporate Australia, could run amuck

c) Some weird esoteric concept related to a John Howard created government body called the Fair Pay Commission….sic. As to what it has achieved for the common man? you tell me? http://www.fairpay.gov.au/

I guess what I was trying to highlight above in my somewhat whimsical manner, is the yawning difference, and gross hypocrisy, workers/the common man, receive in treatment from the John Howard created federal governement and its bodies,

and the way this same federal Liberal government treats its Super Star, Corporate CEOs, like old pal Sol Trujillo…

What really got my jock straps in a knot was reading this article about the Stupendously Humongous pay-rise awarded to Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo, by the Telstra Board and then comparing it, with this article about the pathetically paltry pay-rise awarded to the common man, by the John Howard Created Fair Pay Commission.

Gross Public Bastardry

To quickly sum up both articles, if the Telstra shares rise by $1 in ten months, Sol Trujillo will pocket an extra $15.5 million, meanwhile at the other end of the scale,

the John Howard Created Fair Pay Commission, just decided that LOW-PAID workers will get a $10-a-week pay rise in October — which is expected just ahead of the federal election

Here is the KICKER, that, supposed Payrise, will be largely absorbed by inflation!!!!

I honestly do not know whether I should laugh or cry. What is the Labor Party, going to do about this???

Or Have they Like their latest high profile recruit Peter Garret who has since publicly voted for a pulp mill in Tassy, SOLD OUT!!!
