When Michael COSTA, and the Corporations want to Privatise Electricity…You know its not a Good Idea….Why Did I Vote Labor Again?

When, I first heard about the very real concept of the proposed Privatisation of the Electricity Service here, in the State of NSW, I thought, oh oh, its Telstra Mach 3 all over again

We are going to hand over a public service, that is in actual fact a bonafide Economic Monopoly, so that instead of the the taxpayers benefiting from the year in year out revenue, Big Business, would. And its blatantly obvious, what would inevitably happen!!!

Remember when Telstra got flogged off, and although it wasn’t immediate, however slowly and yet ever so slowly two things happened….yes you guessed right, the public telephones around the place starting disappearing. Public telephones now are rarer then dinosaurs…and guess what happened to Line Rentals..they went up, didn’t they. So when Michael Costa, and Morris Iemma, tell you that nothing drastic is going to happen…you can tell them..

Yeh Sure Just like Telstra Prices Right!!!

Just like every other hard working taxpayer in this state, I read about the behind the scenes murmurings of this proposed sale of a public monopoly, to the private sector just before the federal election 2007. And Like everybody else, one did not give it much thought, because Kevin 07 and John Howard, were at it hammer and things, with Kevvie the eventual victor.

To say the consumers, who just happen to be the voting public, are unimpressed would be like saying that Ricky Ponting should be sacked as captain of the Aussie Cricket Team.

All we have to do is look to the consumers, yes ordinary mums, and dads, in other states who are unfortunate enough to live in, situations whereby their electricity is purchased from Private Corporations

Read what their consumer bodies have to say about Michael Costa’s flawed logic defying economic argument. He expects us to believe that a Private Corporation would happily build a new Billion Dollar Electricity generation plant and then charge a minimum price hoping to recoup their money with some profit say 100 years into the future.

What are you smoking Michael Costa? Look us in the face and Answer this Question, who Ultimately is going to benefit?

However before you answer that question, ask yourself this, are the vested corporate interests who are pushing this barrow, the sames ones, who actually voted for you, at the last election. I guarantee you that they did not.

I do know one thing, and that is, the same voting public that you have taken for granted in this state are not going to take this rubbish from NSW Labor, any more. Now that public enemy number one, John Howard is gone, from the collective psyche, you are now under the collective blow torch.

We are going to apply the same rigour of examination to your policies, that we did to Johnny.

And remember this Despite John Howard’s perceived superior economic governance credentials he was unceremoniously turfed out, and Kevin 07 was Victorious. One could could conceivably argue that messrs Costa and Iemma, do not even have good economic credentials to stand on. So if there is no sound economics, and their is no public populism, what is there???

Lets Stop this rot in its tracks. Pick up the phone and tell Michael Costa, and Morris Iemma, that you the citizen taxpayer, refuse to be taken for a mug and do not want the public elctricity service privatised.

Here I shall make it even easier for you. Go and Tell Michael Costa and Morris Iemma that, if they wants to prove that they are not Dodgy Politicians, the had better think fast, and change their minds.
